How to get to Bird Garden
The Yuen Po Street Bird Garden is situated in Kowloon in the district of Mong Kok, it is easily reachable via public transport or by taxi.
From Nathan Road
Many visitors will be staying in one of the many hotels along the southern end of Nathan Road on the Kowloon Peninsular, as this is one of the main areas for hotels in Hong Kong. Travelling to the Bird Garden from here is easy and is best done using Hong Kong’s clean and efficient underground railway system, the MTR.
To use the MTR enter the system at the Tsimshatsui or Jordon MTR stations or any station on the Kwun Tong line. In the MTR systems the directions are determined by the name of the major stop at the end of the line. To visit the Bird Garden visitors should take the Kwun Tong line in the Kwun Tong direction as far as the Prince Edward MTR station and alight there. The Bird Garden at Yuen Po street is easily reach from the MTR. The closest MTR station to the Bird Garden is Prince Edward MTR station.
Leave the station by exit B1 and walk north along Nathan Road for about 10 minutes until you reach the intersection with Yuen Po street. The route to the Bird Garden is well signposted.
From Hong Kong islands
To reach the Bird Garden from Hong Kong island the best choice depends on the start location.
From Central areas of Hong Kong the best path is via MTR, taking the Hong Kong Island line to Admiralty station or Central station there to interchange onto the Kwun Tong line.
Otherwise if starting in Causeway Bay a bus route across the harbour using the Crossharbour Tunnel is a more direct route.
Bus number 113 is the best choice for this, as the drop off point on Embankment road is very close to the Bird Garden.
Get on the Bus 113 in Causeway Bay at Canal Road West, which is under the flyover outside the back of Time Square, and disembark 7 stops later at Embankment Road. The bus will cost HK$9.30 per person.
From the airport
If you are laying over in Hong Kong at Chep Lap Kok airport and wish to make a brief visit to the Bird Garden then consider either the A21 or the E21 airport buses.
The A21 has less stops and will make you close to the Bird Garden, though the stop at Metropark Hotel Mongkok is still 10 minutes walk from the garden. On the other hand the E21 bus will stop many more times, over 20 stops compared to 4 stops for the A21, and you should disembark at Mongkok Police Station which is also 10 minutes walk away. The A21 bus is recommended despite the higher cost, HK$33 per person.
When disembarking at the hotel walk out onto Lai Chi Kok Road and walk right towards the flyover to the junction with Prince Edward Road. Then follow the Prince Edward Road, crossing to the left side at the traffic lights, until you reach the junction with Yuen Po Street.
